Children are very welcome in our practice, which is located on Bellerine Street in the heart of Geelong. Many of our youngest patients first visit us shortly after their first teeth come through and then visit us regularly on a six- or twelve-monthly basis.
Preventive Dentistry for Children
We have a strong preventive focus on children’s dental health. We work to assist parents, guardians, and caregivers to establish a good routine of home dental care. This is important because dental disease is preventable.
Many of our young patients participate in sports as they grow up. Many dental injuries to teeth are preventable, and we can help parents to minimise the risk of injuries to their children’s teeth, no matter what level of sport they are playing. Visit our page about sports mouthguards.
Your Child’s Dental Treatment
If your child needs a filling or some other treatment, we can provide it in our practice with gentle care. Children often make great patients, and modern approaches to dental care allow us to perform treatment efficiently and with a focus on the comfort of the child.
We can accommodate children who are very nervous or need a lot of treatment by arranging hospital visits. Please ask if this is something you would like to know more about.
Crooked and Crowded Teeth
We will monitor the growth and development of your child’s teeth at every check-up. If crowding or an unusual bite seems to be developing, we may make an early referral to one of our local orthodontists for their opinion.
Early intervention orthodontic treatment may be the preferred option for some children. The orthodontist may recommend treatment at an early age, before and/or during growth spurts so that more complex or invasive treatments can be avoided or minimised later on.
Child Dental Benefits Schedule
We welcome children who are eligible for dental care under the Child Dental Benefits Schedule.
